2010-2011 Performances

Saturday, September 25, 2010 7pm
The Finke Theatre opens its 2010-11 season with a performance by the highly acclaimed musical ensemble, Ivory and Gold – award-winning artists celebrating the greatest examples of American jazz, ragtime, Broadway, and Gospel music. The group began as a husband-and-wife team in 2001 and now performs as a trio consisting of Ann Barnhart on flute, Jeff Barnhart on piano and vocals, and Danny Coots on percussion and drums. Ivory and Gold has played to packed houses on five continents and now brings wonderful renditions of this time-honored music to mid-Missouri!

The whole family will get hooked on this unique and original magic act featuring Amy Short and Steve Craig whose clean Midwestern humor will keep audience members of all ages "caught up" in the act. This duo's fun-filled show, complete with traditional fishing equipment and props, is a real charmer, suitable for the entire family. Don't let this "big one" get away!

The Showboater barbershop harmony group from Jefferson City loves to sing, and it shows! This talented group of mid-Missouri men, who sing a cappella in close harmony, are not your typical barbershoppers. Their unique blend of voices and personalities—and own special music—delivers a one-of-a-kind musical experience that is sure to delight audience-goers and have them singing and dancing in their seats.

Mid-Missouri's Martin Family Band brings their exciting style of bluegrass music to the Finke Theatre stage for this special holiday performance. The Martin Family Band, performing since 1999, is well known for their inspired performances, great vocal arrangements, and rock-solid instrumental sound. This exclusive holiday program combines a variety of their musical talents — a wonderful way to celebrate the Christmas season!

Saturday, January 22, 2011 7pm
Music has always been a big part of area native Jesse Rohrbach's life. From an early age, he began performing for audiences with his musical family. A skilled musician on piano and guitar, he performs a variety of different musical styles, from classic rock-n-roll to country to gospel. Family members sometimes join him on stage for a spontaneous jam session.

Saturday, February 19, 2011 7pm
These five inspired clarinetists say when they run over their music once and like it, they run over it again. That's why they call themselves the "Roadkill Quintet." This talented group performs classical, ragtime and jazz music with a combination of humor and descriptions. Unlike their namesake, this is truly a pleasurable encounter.

The Finke Theatre will present its first play in many decades with a non-musical performance featuring local community players under the direction of former California High School teacher, Audie Cline. Watch for more information on this exciting theatrical offering.

Saturday, April 16, 2011 7pm
The Skinny Improv is a dynamic improvisational comedy group from Springfield, Missouri, that creates scenes and games to entertain and involve audiences. This hip, cutting-edge, and lightning-fast style of improvised sketches, scenes, and music is guaranteed to keep you roaring with laughter and leave you screaming for more. Founded in 2002, The Skinny Improv is known for both performing and teaching short and long-form improvisational theatre.

Saturday, May 14, 2011 7pm
Historical re-enactor David Dickerson of Aldrich, Missouri, brings his rich theatrical experience to the Finke Theatre in these diverse and widely acclaimed portrayals of 19th century writer/poet Oscar Wilde and John the Apostle. Dickerson, a New York film and commercial actor and retired public educator, brings these powerful historical figures to life in this awe-inspiring and unforgettable performance.

Saturday, June 11, 2011 7pm
Be entertained and uplifted with an evening of Southern gospel music at its best. Featured are performances by two gospel singing groups, both with a reputation for stirring the body and soul. Celebrate this evening of both great gospel music in this final performance of the Finke Theatre's 2010-11 season.
